About us

About us
Croydon Savers Credit Union is a savings and loans co-operative run for and by its members on a
not for profit basis. Membership is open to anyone who lives and works in the Croydon area.
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

How it works
All our members place savings deposits with us and can withdraw these at any time. This provides
us with a large pool of money from which any member can also borrow should they need to do so.
Whilst encouraging people to save rather than borrow, there are times when the unexpected
means we have to do so. Our low cost and flexible 'Saver Loan' scheme provides a cheap and
easy alternative to other lenders. We also specialise in helping people deal with their debts.

Ethics
As a Co-operative, we have no outside shareholders so any surplus is returned to our members
as a dividend on savings and a rebate on interest paid. This keeps money in the local area,
helping to regenerate our communities. Many of our members choose to save with us, knowing
that their savings are helping others to escape the debt and poverty trap by providing affordable
loans when needed. By encouraging saving rather than borrowing we are significantly different
from other companies in the financial services sector.
